5 THINGS CHILDREN NEED TO LEARN TO SETTLE DOWN TO HOMEWORK

  • De-clutter and organize their materials.  Mandatory before they try to settle down and work.  Limit distractions right from the get go.
  • Make a list of what has to be done.  A map of what needs to be done is a very helpful tool in staying on track with a homework task.

  • Collect the materials to complete the assignment.  Again, limit distractions and breaks in the flow of work.
  • Know what is the acceptable level of quality for their work.  Provide the child with a goal of achievement.  Let them rise to a challenge.
  • Know when the work is due and ensure there is enough time to do it.  An ADHD child should not be hurried.  Teach them how to plan and how to give themselves enough time to achieve quality work.
These basic skills can really help children master their homework or study times.
